What is SAC? The School Advisory Council is a group of caring parents, teachers, administrators and community members. The SAC’s primary responsibility is to develop, implement and monitor the School Improvement Plan (SIP) for Dania Elementary. Voting members are elected by their peers, to one-year terms. However all community members are invited to participate in SAC activities. Meetings are once a month.
What is the SIP? The School Improvement Plan is a set of goals, objectives and action steps, which drive Dania's educational activities relating to school improvement and education accountability. Parents, teachers and administrators all have a role in developing these goals. Each plan shall address issues relative to budget, training, instructional materials, technology, staffing, student support services, specific school safety
and discipline strategies, and other matters of resource allocation, as determined by district school board policy, and shall be based on an analysis of student achievement and other school performance data.
SAC is an excellent opportunity for all parents to learn about Dania’s curriculum and programs and faculty -- and to participate in their development and their child’s educational system. The School Advisory Council and the School Improvement Plan is directed by State Statute 1001.452 and Broward County School Board Policy 1403. What is SAF? Broward County and the State of Florida offer numerous avenues for parental involvement and input into their children’s education. One avenue is the School Advisory Forum (SAF). SAF is your opportunity to interact with school staff, faculty and other parents to learn about school curriculum, policy, procedures and just about anything else going on at Dania Elementary. It’s a great way to have your voice heard. Parents and the school community are automatically members. Join us along with our Principal Donna Patton each month.
